My name is Emma Harris, I am a mother to two beautiful girls, but I also write here at a quiet style, about the things that I love.  I live with my family in the small city of Brighton, in the UK.

As a teenager, I was interested in textiles and fashion and desperately wanted to pursue that path but was sadly persuaded otherwise.  So, like many people, I went with my head instead of following my heart, and ended up in a ‘sensible’ office job.  However, still keen to find a creative outlet, I did a few courses; pottery, jewellery design, floristry, interior design, quilting, and although I enjoyed them all, I felt none were quite right for me as a career, well to be honest, when it came to pottery, I think the tutor probably felt it wasn’t right for me either!

My serial class undertaking came to a stop when I became pregnant about 10 years ago.  But of course, I still have that creative itch and a passion for design, so hence this blog, my place to share a love of a simple style, be it in interiors, botanicals, fashion, independent shops, makers, art, or photography, with the occasional post thrown in about well-being and my family life.

As well as writing here, I also offer styling for visual media workshops, and product photography for brands.  If you would like further details please email me, using the address below.

  1. Hi emma,
I found you on BYW and I think it’s a great start. I love your clean quiet aesthetic. I too was persuaded to go the “sensible” job route and so took up blogging as a way to work on my creative stuff. My blog is under construction (ha) but I’d love to have you visit. There’s fund stuff about crafts, style, home travel.
looking to forward to seeing what you do and the photos of you are perfect!

  2. Hi Emma, I found you through Blog Boss. I love your blog – I was instantly smitten. And your bio is great. I love the extended version and the bit about following your head over your heart (which I can totally relate to). See you in class!

    1. Hi Elizabeth, thank you for stopping by, and your lovely comments. I’ve been over to your blog now too, and I absolutely love it. I look forward to seeing you in class. Emma x

  3. I noticed my facebook friend and fellow florist Vanessa Birley florals had been chosen by you to post on your page – perhaps you might like to take a look at AMAMINI FLOWERS on facebook and see what you think?:)

    1. Hi Elisabeth, the reason Vanessa was on the blog was because she won my weekly instagram competition #gatheredstyle, I would love you to join in too if you are an instagram user. It takes place every Tuesday and is for styling gathered and found items 🙂

  4. Hi Emma, I found you through Vanessa and Elizabeth. I love your blog and page, so clean and exact. Thank-you for sharing. I need to get the hang of Instagram so I can send you a photo for #gatheredstyle. Have a great day.Shirley

  5. Gorgeous, gorgeous blog! 🙂 I share your love for a quiet but deeply felt aesthetic, and a passion for flowers, so will really enjoy catching up on your posts during the holidays. I hope to be a bit more organised with my social media in 2015, and look forward to joining in with your gatheredstyle hashtag. Merry Christmas! Belinda x

  6. Hi Emma, have just discovered you and would love to subscribe to your lovely blog. The problem is I can’t see how to enter my email in the Subscribe box ( ie I type in my email address but then not sure how to submit) Apologies if I’m being very stupid!
    Best wishes,

    1. Hi Deborah
