Friday Fashion

Hello again, I can’t believe that a week has already gone by since my first post.  I just wanted to say, thank you to everyone that has commented on my blog, I have received some truly lovely comments.

You might have noticed from the post title that I have decided from now onwards, Friday posts on the blog will be dedicated to fashion.  It is probably not the most original name for a weekly column, but I have a sleep-deprived baby brain, and it was the best I could come up with!  So what can you expect, well every other week will be an outfit post, I thought about doing it weekly, but decided I don’t own enough clothes to do 52 posts a year, despite what my husband might say! For the weeks in between, I will be posting what I hope will be an article of interest relating to, yes, you’ve guessed it, fashion.

Below is todays outfit, my usual attire for daily living; a world of toddler groups, school runs and playgrounds.  A pair of jeans, sweatshirt, my lovely boots (again), and on this occasion an incredible necklace by Moxham, one of my current favourites, its amazing, don’t you think?

Have you got any exciting plans for the weekend?  I will be joining my eldest in the annual children’s parade that kicks off Brighton Festival tomorrow.  It is my favourite time of year in our vibrant City, a month full of culture, the weird, the wonderful and everything in between! I hope you have fun whatever you do.

My Kitchen

Before I start writing regular topic columns, I want to share another part of my life; my home, and what better place to start than at the very heart, the kitchen.

When we bought our current house, it was in an appalling state, a mix of 1980s paint effects and graffiti, not exactly a dream home! Even worse, it was absolutely filthy, and as you might notice from the pictures below, I don’t really do mess, in fact, if you remember Monica in Friends, slightly obsessive, yep, that’s me!

The renovation was challenging to say the least; cowboy builders, a failed planning application and a three storey chimney stack full of rubble, amongst other things.  But, it wasn’t all bad luck, and with the help of an unexpected inheritance, some replacement yet brilliant builders and a great deal of work, we got there, and what you see below is the finished result.

The kitchen is still a slight work in progress, we recently changed the table, Dottie decided she quite liked sitting under the previous one, and very wobbly tables combined with little people don’t make for the safest mix. The trouble is, when you change one thing, it can have a knock on effect, the chairs now need a re-think, (given they were a temporary charity shop purchase 10 years ago, they haven’t done too badly), I think a bit of grey paint might sort that out, and then we are done, well, for now at least!

Say hello to Dottie

Meet Dottie, the youngest member of our household, she is a 16 month old whirlwind of energy, incredibly cheeky, and totally fearless.

Although Dottie will be making an appearance on the blog quite regularly, she doesn’t share quite the same interests as me, hers include; shouting out random sounds, climbing up slides, eating food off the floor, other people’s shoes and general destruction! But, she is also a happy little thing, has the best wrinkle-nosed smile ever, is cute as a button, and most importantly, laughs at my attempts at being funny!

I love these shots, I didn’t intend Dottie to be the topic of my second post, and I am sure my eldest won’t be that happy about it, but when I got my camera out to try a few snaps, she posed so beautifully I just had to use them. She was totally fascinated by my SLR and actually stood still in order to get a good look at it, next time, I am sure it won’t be nearly as easy!

Oh yes, and in case you are wondering, Dottie’s skirt and top are both from Zara Kids.
