Defining Your Signature Style Workshop

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a brilliant workshop run by Emily Quinton, and Gudy Herder, and boy did I learn a lot!  As you may have guessed by the title of this post, the workshop was all about defining your signature style, whether a blogger or a shop owner, the same principles could be applied. On Saturday, it was Emily that did most of the teaching, and I have to confess having already done one of Emily's workshops, I was a slightly concerned that I wouldn't learn anything new, but I couldn't have been more wrong.  The weekend focussed on 3 different styles of photography; Bright and Colourful, Moody and Minimal, so it was fascinating to learn a few tips for each style as well as a lot more information about editing photos, social media and using our big cameras rather than the ever handy iPhone.

Gudy took over on Sunday, to teach us about mood boarding, something I have been itching to learn about for a while now.  Like Emily, Gudy's teaching methods were excellent, and I think it is fair to say, we all learnt a great deal about our signature style and portrayal of both ourselves and our brand.  I don't want to give anything away, but the first exercise we did was fascinating!

For the second exercise, we created a group mood board of our current inspiration, seeing the different images everyone brought along was very interesting:

The dark and moody section, definitely my favourite!

In the afternoon, we got stuck in to creating our individual mood boards:

My finished result:

I absolutely loved creating my mood board, and it is definitely something I will be doing again.  What do you think, is it a good visual representation of my signature style?  If not yet, I hope it will be!

I'm not sure if Emily and Gudy have any more workshops planned for next year, but I will keep you posted, it was such an enjoyable weekend, I could quite happily do it again!

Have a great weekend.
