Jessica Zoob Open Studio

Being a blogger has opened up opportunities for me that have felt like a real privilege, and yesterday was one of those moments.  I was lucky enough to have my very own private view of artist Jessica Zoob's stunning and inspiring work at her home in Lewes, prior to the Lewes Artwave festival that starts this coming weekend. As some of you already know, I have long been a fan of Jessica's work, I wrote about her a while back, and from that, and the snippets of paintings that I have shown from my own home, I know that I am definitely not the only one in awe of this lady's incredible talent.

I have met Jessica before when I visited Artwave years ago, but it was very briefly, so it was also a real treat to be able to chat to her properly.  In fact, as luck would have it, my car wouldn't start yesterday, which meant I had to take the train, and as Jessica kindly picked me up from the station, we took a detour via her huge new studio in which she can now create pieces of an incredible scale. Whilst we were there, I was surprised to learn that each painting usually takes between 2 and 3 years to finish, some taking even longer, and that when Jessica is working, she gets so engrossed with what she is creating, that she often works from 6.00 am until midnight.  I must admit it gave me an even greater appreciation of the pieces that we own.

You can read more about Jessica and her beautiful work on her website, but below are a few snippets of my visit yesterday.
