A Shared Style

Hello there, I hope you've all had a good week.  Poor little Dottie has tonsillitis and has barely slept the past couple of nights, which means we are all pretty sleep deprived, so I sincerely hope this post makes sense! Despite my tired state, I am very excited today, to drop by and share the first post from my new column.  I have wanted to include more original interiors posts ever since I started A Quiet Style, and with the help of Holly Becker and her recent motivational Decor8 course, I have finally got my act together enough to come up with a new monthly column; A Shared Style.  Each month, I will invite someone whose style I admire, to share a styled space from their home, whether it be a whole room, a wall or a shelf, in order to give us all a bit of inspiration when it comes to styling our homes.

My first guest is from Norway, and is someone whose style I have admired for a while, the very lovely Birgitte.  I was thrilled that Birgitte agreed to be my first guest, and I think you will see why, she very kindly sent me quite a few photos of her gorgeous home, and it was just too hard to narrow it down to just one, so today's post is a bit of a treat, because we get to see not just one, but three beautiful spaces!

Birgitte also took the time to answer a couple of questions that I thought you might find of interest.

How would you describe your interiors style?

I would describe my style, as personal and mixed, with a nordic touch.  I like to mix old and new, designer and high street.  I especially treasure the antiques I have inherited from my grandparents.

Do you have any tips for styling your home?

My styling tips are to follow your heart and personality.  My aim is to have a warm and welcoming home.  I always have fresh flowers and green plants in my home.  I have lots of candles and I light them every day.  I like to keep things simple, I love clean, white walls and add colours with pillows, blankets, etc.  My best styling tip is to fill your home with the things you love.

Is there anyone whose interior style you admire?

I have a lot of favourites, here are some; Mari Strenghielm, Linn Heimtun, and By Fryd.  I love the new book 'In Detail' by Hans Blomquist and 'The Inspired Home, Nest of Creatives' with photos by Ditte Isager.

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us Birgitte, I could quite happily move in, it is simply stunning!

You can find Birgitte on instagram as Kiste72.

Have a great weekend.
