Styling the Seasons - October

Remember Styling the Seasons from last month, the brilliant concept by Katy from Apartment Apothecary, and Charlotte from Lotts and Lots to get us all to update a surface in our home each month to reflect the change in seasons?  Well today's post, is my styled surface for October! What does October mean to me?  Since having kids, it is definitely all about halloween!  I don't know what has happened since I was little, but Halloween now seems to be a pretty big thing.  On the street where I live, people really get into it, they decorate their houses, and some of the costumes you see are quite amazing!  I have even mastered the art of pumpkin carving, on a very basic level of course, but nothing says halloween quite like a toothy grin and a triangle cut-out nose!

But all that being said, I'm afraid that our house doesn't really get much decoration, you won't find spray on cobwebs, slime on our windows or fake blood dripping down the walls.  However, over the years, I have grown quite fond of the odd pumpkin, not of the aforementioned carved variety so much, but of the gorgeously coloured and shaped ones that are about at this time of year, so that is how I have brought October into our house this year, with some beautiful vegetables!

Of course, it wouldn't be a styled surface in our home without some flowers, and the ones you can see below, are part of the new monthly column that I mentioned on Wednesday.  Each month along with the very talented Caroline from Wild Rubus, we will be creating a flower tutorial, something seasonal and beautiful you can create in your home that doesn't cost a fortune.  This Monday, will be the first post, so you will be able to find out exactly how we put these arrangements together, I can't wait to share it with you!

What's your view of the little pumpkins, do you prefer them on your surfaces or in your soup?  Personally, I'm quite partial to both!

Have a great weekend.
